Long-time employee, Edward Chisholm, has been promoted to director of operations at Sanderson Farms, responsible for managing the company’s processing, live production and sales operations. Since 2017, he has served as director of production for the company’s live production divisions.

Chisholm is the first individual in over three decades to be named director of operations since our current chairman of the board and chief executive officer, Joe F. Sanderson, Jr., left the position after being named president of the company in 1989. Since then, no single individual other than the president has been responsible for overseeing processing, live production and sales operations until the promotion of Chisholm to director of operations.

“I look forward to the opportunity to influence the success of our operations from the start to the finish of our vertically-integrated model,” said Chisholm. “Whether it’s growing a healthy bird in live production, producing the finest quality product in our processing operations or providing the best customer service our industry has to offer, each stage of our operations is equally important to ensuring the company’s continued success, and I am honored to have the opportunity to make an impact.”

Chisholm began his career with the company in 1998 as a hatchery superintendent at the company’s Hazlehurst, Mississippi production division. Throughout his 21-year tenure with the company, he has held various positions throughout the live production side of the business including breeder-hatchery manager, broiler manager, production manager, division manager, corporate production manager and, most recently, director of production. Chisholm serves on the company’s executive committee, 401K oversight committee, corporate compensation committee and the diversity and inclusion committee, where he currently serves as the committee’s chair.

A graduate of Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi, Chisholm earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Business Administration degree. He also earned a certification in Electronics Engineering Technology from Southern Technical College.

“During his tenure with Sanderson Farms, Edward has worked in many of our live production divisions and at nearly every level of management,” said Lampkin Butts, president and chief operating officer for Sanderson Farms. “I am confident he has the experience and expertise necessary to lead our company’s operations to new records of success and help us prepare for future growth.”
