Sanderson Farms Promotes Brett Montague to Training Manager

LAUREL, Miss. – March 4, 2015 – Brett Montague has recently been promoted to Training Manager at Sanderson Farms, Inc. Montague, a former member of the company’s Corporate Trainee Program, will now be responsible for designing training curriculum, as well as implementing and facilitating training programs intended to increase management and employee effectiveness. He will also be responsible for recruiting and developing Beginning Trainees to become successful members of Sanderson Farms’ management team.

Montague is a two-time graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Languages and another Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies. He also earned an associate’s degree in Fine Arts from Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, Mississippi. Montague joined Sanderson Farms as a Beginning Trainee in July 2012.

As a Beginning Trainee, Montague assisted with corporate translating and training, as well as working extensively in the poultry production areas of the company’s business. Prior to joining Sanderson Farms, Montague worked as a Disaster Readiness and Response Manager for the American Red Cross of South Mississippi. In 2006 and 2007, he served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay, South America. Montague is also a recipient of the Outstanding Young Citizen Award by the Hattiesburg Jaycees, a part of the global Junior Chamber International that strives to provide development opportunities which empower young people to create positive change.

In addition to his professional and civic accomplishments, Montague has served in volunteer service roles for the past two decades for organizations such as Abbie Rogers Civitan Camp for Children and Adults with Significant Disabilities in Wiggins, Mississippi, and the San Miguel Catholic Mission in Saltillo, Mexico. He currently serves on the advisory board for the Dubard School for Children with Language Disorders and is an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. In his spare time, Montague enjoys traveling, reading, eating good food and spending time with family and friends.
